Going on a trip? A long plane ride? Camping out for the weekend? Here are some tips for saving battery life that will keep your laptop alive for the duration of your journey.

Movies or Music – copy them to a USB stick… the less harddrive use the longer the battery lasts.

Likewise shutdown the page file so you run out of memory instead of disk (if you can). May as well turn the HD sleep timer way down too.

Unless you have an SSD like I do, in which case ignore the above advice and enjoy an even longer battery life, just optimize for SSD (that includes disabling the pagefile, prefetch, indexing usually)
